Ellen's Danish Pancake House is a full-service restaurant nestled at 272 Ave of Flags in Buellton, offering a casual, family-friendly spot that blends classic American breakfasts with a Danish twist. The setting is lively, especially on weekend mornings when locals and visitors converge for a hearty start to the day, sometimes making the space a bit noisy but never overwhelming the warm atmosphere.

The menu leans heavily into traditional breakfast fare enhanced by Danish specialties—think Danish Sausage Pancakes, homemade cinnamon rolls, and a variety of pancake styles including granola with banana and pineapple pancakes. Alongside these, they serve American staples like biscuits and gravy, rib-eye and eggs, and generous five-egg omelets, appealing both to those craving comfort food and those interested in something a little different. Portion sizes generally satisfy hungry appetites, which makes it a fitting stop for families or anyone wanting a substantial breakfast.

Service here stands out for being personable and attentive, with staff greeting guests warmly and keeping coffee refilled throughout the meal. While prices lean toward the higher side—coffee runs about $5 and meals can add up quickly—many find the quality and portion size justify the cost. The dining room fills quickly, especially on weekends, but the wait times are usually reasonable considering the popularity.

This spot works well for breakfast or brunch outings where the focus is on relaxed comfort food in a bustling, down-to-earth environment. Families appreciate the kids' menu options, and those interested in Danish cuisine will find unique items not often available at other local breakfast places. The lively atmosphere, combined with the mix of traditional and Danish-specific dishes, makes Ellen’s a place where you’ll encounter an active dining room that feels grounded in the local community’s morning routines.

We were greated with a "Good morning!" And a big smile and seated right away, being asked if we would like coffee promptly afterwards. I ordered one of the specials, Rib Eye and eggs, Mom ordered the Danish Pancakes. The food came out quickly and the waitress was all smiles and kept up with the coffee and water. My steak was cooked perfectly as we're my sunnyside up eggs and hash browns. The pancakes were also made to perfection and the toast toasted just right. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

While in Solvang, my wife and I had breakfast here. It was on a Saturday and it was packed. However, we were sat within 15 minutes of checking in. The staff were very warm and welcoming. My wife and I split the chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast. It came with hash browns and toast and all of it was delicious. One intriguing note, though. The chicken fried steak tasted to both my wife and me, as if it was actually a ground beef steak, rather than a traditional cube steak. Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious, just a surprise to both my wife and me. Another note. This place was hopping. Staff were moving to and fro, taking orders, delivering food, filling drinks, etc. If you find yourself in buellton, ca, make sure to stop by for some breakfast or lunch.

The food was great. The parking was adequate. I have Danish pancakes and they were very tasty. The biggest problem I had was that it was very noisy that day

One of the best breakfast places in the SYV! Traditional breakfast menu items along with Danish pancakes! Menudo available on Sundays. Pretty pricy in my opinion, but good. $5 for drip coffee seems high. $65 before tip, for my son and I to eat breakfast.

Delicious but a bit pricey. The Danish sausage is a must-try—perfectly herby and packed with flavor. The hot chocolate is indulgently fancy, topped generously with whipped cream. The jams are delightful, bursting with big chunks of fruit. The only letdown was the cinnamon bun, which we found a bit hard and dry. This authentic Danish restaurant offers a wonderful escape from the bustling crowds.

Amazing and friendly staff! Big portions for your meals and food came out fast! Cute diner experience and the chance to try a danish pancake! Wish they had options for turkey and chicken breakfast meal options.
